Nestled at the base of Oxbow Dam, Oxbow
is a picturesque little town with that "country"
feel. It offers many services for vacationers along the Highway
86 Oregon Scenic Byway in Northeastern Oregon's wilderness area as well as filling the needs of
hunting, fishing,
and outdoor adventure enthusiasts.
Oxbow has a rich history from early
Oregon Trail pioneer days when farms and orchards were established by
early settlers, to the early 20th Century heyday dam building, to its
present day position at the foot of Idaho Power's Brownlee Dam. The
succulent fruit and produce of the region are gone beneath deep
reservoirs. Today vacationers find excellent parks and RV accommodations
maintained by Idaho Power. Nothing can change the majestic scenic beauty
of the Hells Canyon area, and it is more accessible now than ever before
