For adventure bound vacationers Oxbow, Oregon, is a convenient re-supply stop.

Nestled at the base of Oxbow Dam, Oxbow is a picturesque little town with that "country" feel. It offers many services for vacationers along the Highway 86 Oregon Scenic Byway in Northeastern Oregon's wilderness area as well as filling the needs of hunting, fishing, and outdoor adventure enthusiasts.

Oxbow has a rich history from early Oregon Trail pioneer days when farms and orchards were established by early settlers, to the early 20th Century heyday dam building, to its present day position at the foot of Idaho Power's Brownlee Dam. The succulent fruit and produce of the region are gone beneath deep reservoirs. Today vacationers find excellent parks and RV accommodations maintained by Idaho Power. Nothing can change the majestic scenic beauty of the Hells Canyon area, and it is more accessible now than ever before

More detailed information about Oxbow history is available on the Idaho Power site..
