You will want to take time to get a good breathe of fresh air and reconnect with those around you.

The Hells Canyon area of Eastern Oregon abounds in hiking trails—almost 900 miles worth!. Ever experienced an over 8,000-foot change in elevation on foot? You can do that in Hells Canyon!

Hike to the top of the highest peak in the region—He Devil, at 9,393 feet—then drop down through alpine meadows and lakes, and follow a drainage to the banks of the Snake River.

please visit the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest website for detailed information about trails, and for where to locate trailheads.

Fishing Trips for Anglers of ALL Ages!

A quality fishery for a variety of warm water species is hard to find in the Northwest. Brownlee Reservoir on the Snake River fills that bill and then some. The Snake River portion of the reservoir is over 50 miles long. Either an Oregon or Idaho license is acceptable while fishing from a boat on the Snake. Brownlee Charters offers guided fishing charters on the Brownlee Reservoir. The most sought after fish in Brownlee are both white and black crappie, smallmouth bass and channel cat. Other species available are largemouth bass , bluegill, yellow perch, blue and flathead catfish and rainbow trout.

Guided Fishing Charters also available on the Oxbow and Hells Canyon Reservoir. Call 1-800-422-3568 or visit www.hellscanyonadventures.com for more information.

Winter or summer you'll see views from the lodge of the magnificent Wallowa Mountains on the southern boundary of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Just think of it. You can hike or snowshoe a short distance from the lodge right into the Eagle Cap Wilderness, Oregon's largest designated wilderness area, and you're a short drive from the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.

Much of that mountain wilderness lies within the 1200 square mile Wallowa Mountain range of spectacular northeastern Oregon as part of the 360,000 acre Eagle Cap Wilderness, an area with designated wild and scenic rivers like the Minam and Imnaha, 53 high mountain lakes, 540 miles of trails, granite crags, and steep-walled valleys formed by ancient glaciers.

The lodge is also a short drive to Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America. It runs along the border of Idaho and Oregon and was cut by the Snake River. The Oregon rim of the canyon is more than a mile above the river and the Idaho rim measures 8000 feet from the top of He Devil mountain to the river bank. That is over 2000 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon!

Visit Cornucopia Lodge and the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area

Our establishment is at the end of the road where true country life begins. We are on the edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area, nestled just below the old Cornucopia mining district where the view is majestic to say the least. Come and stay with us and enjoy what nature has to offer. Wintertime is great for snowmobiling, and summertime is for enjoying the surrounding areas on horseback.

Visit us to see all of what we have to offer and for more information and reservations.

The Panhandle Snowmobile Club is part of the Oregon State Snowmobile Association, representing the Northeast Oregon area surrounding Halfway, Richland and Oxbow areas.

We groom approximately 280 miles of trail within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest that includes miles of varied terrain from Halfway in Pine Valley at 2500 to 3000 feet up to Sugarloaf Mountain and surrounding play areas from 6000 to 8000 feet elevation.

The club maintains a snowcat groomer at our clubhouse in Halfway and has a membership of 50-60 snowmobilers. Our community participation includes supplying Christmas trees for the city of halfway, helping with the Panhandle Fair and Rodeo, twice yearly highway cleanup of 13 miles from Richland to Halfway, financial support of the Beef to Schools program, and Search and Rescue participation.

Our annual Panhandle Snowmobile Poker Run is held every February on the Sunday of Presiden't Day weekend, this year on February 20, 2011. We offer a $4000 purse open to all snowmobilers and offering hands at $5 each. Our top two places pay out over $1000 and brings many out of town visitors.

Local snow depth at 5400 feet may be obtained by internet search at Schneider Meadows Snotel, located just north of Halfway. Most of the best play areas are at higher elevation with a greater amount of snow.

Trail grooming schedule, snow conditions and maps may be obtained from Panhandle Snowmobile Club members:
