Formed
January 1, 2001, UCP exists to promote community
development in the Baker County Panhandle area while maintaining a visionfor the future and providing the premier rural living experience.
In November 2004 UCP won
national recognition from the United States Department of Agriculture
Forest Service for its outstanding accomplishments in the "Working
Together for Rural America" initiative. Recognition was for UCP's
spirited guidance and inclusive approach to defining a long-term
strategy for community partnerships and fostering local economic growth
in rural eastern Oregon. Chief among the projects recognized was the
private small timber stands healthy forest management initiative for
properties adjoining Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and Bureau of Land
Management areas of the Pine and Eagle Creek drainage.
UCP has a long list of
accomplishments
in the short four-years since it was formed.
